I'm not sure this makes a lot of sence. Dealing an impact bat in the division for a utility man and a lefty reliever. Hopefully they filled a need but if I was a marlins fab I'd be pissed

Both fielded their 2B position similarly...Uggs at .976 and Infante at .978, so defense isn't the reason.
That said, it's all about the money, now and near future.
Uggs avoided arbitration with a 1 year deal for $7.8M, so unless he falls flat in 20111, you can only imagine the raise and possible longer term deal he'll command in 2012 and forward - not exactly part of the Marlins' plan.
Infante is contracted for 2011 and 2012 for a total of about $4.3M, so the Marlins save money and lose no defense...but lose offensive production....guess they feel the trade-off is worth it.

Uggla is as consistent as they come at 2B, Imo if they were going to "sell" him they shoulda traded him to the American League! preferebly Cleveland
